Just say no to Head Knowledge!
Head knowledge is of flesh as heart knowledge is of spirit. What we are educated with; our bible knowledge, our upbringing, the input that came from others…this all leads to head knowledge. It is useful, necessary and pertinent to be effective in the kingdom of God.
Sometimes we are cut to the heart, where there is a circumcision of the heart. This is when the Holy Spirit convicts of us something- usually some ugliness that is deep and hidden. It could be carnal, spiteful, proud, deviant, lustful, pagan, selfish and what not.
But there is another trait of God that is often neglected or ignored by the sincerest of bible scholars: the work of the Holy Spirit.
Until you have been scooped up and flopped down, taken over by and relinquished all control to the power of the Holy Spirit, yielding to the Lord so much that there’s an exhibition of supernatural and mysterious happenings peculiar only to God’s personality….Until you’ve gotten “wrecked” and kicked in the butt; mesmerized, and thus, forever changed, your search will continue.
Are you dwelling in your head knowledge in the shadow of the Almighty, sheltered by His wings, protected....but stagnating? ..well, let me know how that's working for you.
In 2 Timothy 3 when Paul says “having a form of godliness but denying its power,” he was referring to an unloving, ungrateful generation that is out of control. That’s not us. That’s not God’s holy people who are living to serve Him.
In verse 6 he describes them “always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.”
Let's ask ourselves: Do I deny God's power in my life? Am I able to acknowledge the truth? Do I put limits on my own perception of His ability in my life?
